I have been covering concerts for many years now and have had the pleasure of working with some amazing artists and bands in a live setting. There is nothing more exciting than waiting in the pits, watching the stage crew making their final checks before the gig kicks off. The lights dim, the crowd goes wild (right behind you) and on they come. You (the photographer) are then thrust into action, having only 3 songs to work with (generally 15 minutes), to take the shots you need.

Each artist or band differs, some are more enigmatic than others and can be quite a challenge to keep up with. There is always the personal challenge of getting at least one "portfolio" shot per gig which is something my mentor in concert photography once taught me - in fact I have more than one mentor when I think about it, as you are always learning something new from your fellow photographers.

I have a big back catalogue of images mostly with Filmmagic, Retna and UPPA. I am uploading them gradually to this section of the site, well the highlights anyway. Plus I am now shooting more events independently.
